The event is scheduled for 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the library at Horace Greeley High School, 70 Roaring Brook Road.

All residents are invited - not just those with children attending district schools, according to district officials.

McCann is expected to introduce himself at the coffee event while discussing his entry plan and reflecting on his first month in Chappaqua, according to the school district.

The administrator, who has held positions in Hendrick Hudson, Tarrytown and Pleasantville, is replacing outgoing Superintendent Lyn McKay, whose retirement becomes effective Jan. 2.

While the district provided no pubic reason for McKay's departure when it was announced on Halloween, she is exiting after calls for her ouster from parents angered by what they perceive to be her mishandling of the sex abuse case involving former Horace Greeley High School drama teacher Christopher Schraufnagel.

According to the school district, additional early-morning and evening introductory coffee sessions will be announced when classes resume in January.
